Moreover, Anju Bobby George is the only Indian player to win a medal in the World Championship. Anju Bobby George was a long jump player who has achieved many achievements in her career. Early life

Anju Bobby George was born on 19 April 1977 in the state of Kerala. Her father’s name was Katie Marcos, who was a furniture dealer. Anju’s father encouraged her in athletics. Anju Bobby George studied at Koruthodu School. Then she started training in athletics from there. After this, she graduated from Vimala College. During this time her interest grew in athletics and she decided to choose it as a career.

Anju Bobby George used to participate in different sports like long jump, throw, and running in  School. After that Anju got the support of Sir Thomas as a coach. During that time, she won the overall title during her training.

Anju Bobby George’s husband was also an athlete. Robert Bobby George is her husband. Moreover, he is the national champion in the long jump. Anju Bobby George got an atmosphere of sports at home as well as in her in-laws’ house. They even encouraged her to move forward. Anju’s husband Robert Bobby George gave up his career in the long jump triple jump. So that he could devote all his time to Anju Bobby George’s career.

Her Achievements

In the year 1996, Anju Bobby won the title of Delhi Junior Asian Championship long jump. Later in 1999 set a national record in the triple jump in Bengaluru Federation Cup. In the year 2001, Anju Bobby broke her own long jump record in the National Circuit Meet held in Thiruvananthapuram. Won Gold Medal in Triple Jump and Long Jump at the National Games held in Ludhiana.

Anju Bobby George won the bronze medal for India in the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. Later, in the Asian Games held in Busan, India won the gold medal. Further, she became the first Indian athlete to win a medal for India. That too, by winning a bronze medal for India in the long jump in 2003. Moreover, this happened at the World Athletics Championships held in Paris.
