Taj Mahal


The Taj Mahal is considered one of the finest examples of Mughal architecture, a style that combined elements of Persian, Indian and Islamic. The Taj Mahal has achieved special note because of the romance of its inspiration.

While the white domed marble mausoleum is the most familiar part of the monument, the Taj Mahal is actually an integrated complex of structures. The Taj Mahal is a white marble tomb, built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his favourite wife, Arjumand Bano Begum, who is better known as Mumtaz.

The monument is located in Agra, India. It was constructed between 1631 and 1654 by a workforce of 22,000. The principal mausoleum was completed seventeen years later, and the surrounding buildings and garden five years later. This remarkable landmark attracts many visitors, it was declared a winner of the new 7 wonders of the world.
