Some of the most expensive players in IPL history, Morris breaks all records! 

Auction for the 14th season of IPL took place in Chennai. People were eagerly waiting for the most expensive player. South African all-rounder Chris Morris is the most expensive player so far. He also broke the six-year (2015) old record of former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni

Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the most expensive player in the first season of IPL in 2008. In that auction CSK bought him for US $ 1.5 million (₹11.33 crore). That season CSK also reached the final. However, Rajasthan Royal emerged victorious. 

Kevin Peterson and Andrew Flintoff

English batsman Kevin Pietersen was sold in $1.5 million along with Andrew Flintoff. He was also sold in US $1.5 million (₹7.55– 7.55 million). Flintoff was bought by Chennai Super Kings while Peterson was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2009.

Shane Bond and Kirron Pollard

New Zealand pacers Shane Bond and Kieron Pollard were the most expensive players in 2020. Kolkata Knight Riders bought Bond. Meanwhile Mumbai Indians bought Pollard for US $750,000 (₹4.8 crore).

Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir became the most expensive player in the 2011 IPL auction. Kolkata Knight Riders bought Gautam Gambhir US $2.4 million (₹11.4 million).

Ravindra Jadeja

Meanwhile, in 2012, Chennai Superkings bought the most expensive player. Chennai Super Kings bought Ravindra Jadeja in 2 million USD (approx ₹9.72 crores).

Yuvraj Singh

In 2014, Royal Challenger Bangalore bought Yuvraj Singh for Rs 14 crore. Yuvraj was the most expensive player that season.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni

Mahendra Singh Dhoni once again became the most expensive player in 2016. Pune Supergiants also selected him as the captain.

Ben stokes

English all-rounder Ben Stokes was the most expensive player in IPL-2017. Stokes played for Pune Super giants that season. Pune bought him for ₹14.5 crores.
