The Congress party has started the preparations to make Rahul Gandhi its president. According to sources, the election process for the post of president will begin in December.
The working committee will pass the proposal for Rahul’s name in December itself. After that, a national convention will be called in January to formally announce Rahul’s presidency.
The session will also elect 12 members of the new working committee, while the new chairman will have the right to choose another 12 members. According to party sources, preparations are on for the presidential election and this cannot be avoided. The pro-Rahul leaders are convinced that the results of the by-elections in Bihar and many states should not be associated with the leadership of the organization.
The party has also won elections in many states under Rahul’s leadership. Earlier, Sonia Gandhi offered to step down in a working committee meeting after 23 Congress leaders wrote an outspoken and open letter against the leadership party. She agreed to hold the post of interim president till the next election after much persuasion.
Therefore, after the relaxation in the Corona guidelines, the party wants to call a meeting of the Working Committee and take a decision therein. While a large section within the party is in favor of Rahul Gandhi, the current Working Committee still has leaders who wrote letters and lodged their protest.
In this case, the working committee meeting will be important. At the same time, if Rahul Gandhi insists on holding elections, then the working committee will declare the election schedule.
