Miss Universe 2021: Mexico’s Andrea Meza Wins the Crown

Miss Mexico Andrea Meza was crowned the 69th Miss Universe. It was a tough competition in which 73 candidates participated. The event happened at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Hollywood in Florida. Former Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa crowned Andrea at the event.

Meanwhile, Adline Castelino represented India. She was the third runner-up. Andrea is the third Miss Universe from her country. Earlier, Lupita Jones (1991) and Ximena Navarrete (2010) bagged the prestigious pageant. Miss Brazil Julia Gama held the second spot, while Miss Peru Janick Maceta del Castillo got the third position.

In the final round of the competition, the judges asked Andrea how would she have dealt with the Corona virus pandemic if she was the leader of the country. In her response, Andrea said, ‘I believe that there is no perfect way to handle such a difficult situation. However, I would have put a lockdown before the situation deteriorated so that people’s lives would not be ruined. We cannot see people’s lives being shattered in this way and that is why I would have tried to handle the situation right from the beginning ‘.

22 year old Miss India Adline Castelino shared a heartfelt note on Instagram. She wrote, “I’m grateful to you that at a young age I have experienced that and if I could only show you what I saw that day! I saw hope, a hope that will be ours soon”.
