Mamata’s Win Presents a Major Shift in Indian Politics

Mamata Banerjee has won the West Bengal elections for the third time. She has made the BJP realize that one can’t win elections by putting one’s own government at stake. In Bengal elections, PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah used the entire central government institutions. However, it was messy to see the entire BJP leadership attacking Mamata’s fortress. It was not long ago that BJP, a party with only three MLAs in Bengal was able to bring a new twist to the political scenario there. As of now, they have failed.

Meanwhile, Narendra Modi and Amit Shah campaigned from the first day that Mamata’s Government would fall. It seemed that Amit Shah’s repeated slogan of ‘BJP crossing 200 seats’ was the absolute truth. It was definitely a part of the BJP election campaign strategy in Bengal. However, BJP’s Chanakya forgot that people were fed up with hearing the same things again and again. Mamata Banerjee in a “wheelchair” was seen by people as a part of a large conspiracy hatched by the BJP. Now, that time has shown Amit Shah’s slogan of ‘BJP crossing 200 seats’ was a gimmick.

On this occasion, Sanjay Raut, the Shiv Sena leader, said that Mamata Banerjee was able to secure 213 seats for her party. However, consolidating the BJP 77 seats in Bengal. Undoubtedly, Mamata’s victory was impressive and Narendra Modi’s political stature is in doubt now. However, Narendra Modi’s identity has emerged as a national leader crossing the Bengal borders. NCP leader Sharad Pawar, Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, Arvind Kejriwal, and other leaders congratulated Mamata Banerjee on her victory. These leaders congratulated her with warmth and a lot of adulation.

Most opposition leaders now see a talisman in Mamata. Mamata Banerjee can lay the foundation for a new political change in India.People believed that no one could defeat Narendra Modi up until now. The people had a lot of hopes and expectations in Modi. Now, the people have lost faith in him. So, things are starting to change. For instance, the Central government’s stand on the agricultural bills is anti-farmer in nature. Indian farmers have been protesting against the bills on the Delhi border for a long time. Now after the Bengal results the farmers have something to be happy about.

The farmers say that the BJP’s defeat in Bengal is their victory. The farmers have also distributed sweets on this occasion. The way the Center has pitched one religion against other religions is dangerous. Meanwhile, Bengal election results show that Bengali people didn’t buy the Hindutva agenda. Mamata Banerjee may have lost to Nandigram by a small margin, but she won despite the defeat.

Mamata Banerjee’s election strategist Prashant Kishore even accused that the Election Commission was acting like a puppet of the government. We can say that because of the ECI, Mamata Banerjee lost Nandigram. After BJP’s defeat, Modi and Shah had to have some excuse to get their “moral support”. Last election, Bengal BJP got three assembly seats. Today the tally has reached to 77  seats. This increase in seats is a major feat for the Bengal BJP. However, how should one respond to the claim that the it was time for Didi to leave politics? There are many ups and downs in politics.

If anyone thinks that they can control time and unseen events, then they are wrong. Time takes test of everyone. The Central government should accept this fact. While the results of five states have shown the BJP a “mirror”, the Congress’s situation has worsened. Rahul Gandhi’s acceptance among the people has declined. M.K Stalin the son of late DMK chief M.Karunanidhi, has strengthened the party and his fathers inheritance in Tamil Nadu. The DMK will form government there.

In Kerala, the Left Front won the assembly elections as before. The BJP has won again in Assam and will also form the government in Puducherry. Thus, the election results in five states tell a different story. It proves Modi-Shah wanted BJP to succeed in a manner that everyone would identify with the BJP. Meanwhile, India is a democratic country. People say “Jai Shri Ram” here, but also pay their homage and remember Gurus of other religions. This is the land of Ram Rahim.
