For the past seven months, farmers have been protesting outside the Logistics Park of Adani Group located at Qila Raipur, Ludhiana. However now, Adani group has closed the park. But, the youth will have to bear the biggest brunt due to the closure of the park.

About 500 employees from the surrounding area were working in this Logistics park. The company was paying them salary for the last seven months without any work. But seeing no solution to this issue, finally the company has decided to close the park. GM District Industry Center Rakesh Kansal has confirmed the news.

He told that he has spoken to the operation head of the Logistics park. We have issued termination letters to about 500 employees. At present, he can’t tell how much the Punjab government will be hit by the closure of this project.

It is worth noting that in 2017, the Adani Group had set up a logistic park on 80 acres in Kila Raipur, Ludhiana. The purpose of this park was to make available cargo by rail and road for import and export to the industries located in Punjab.

In protest against the agricultural laws, the farmers union had blocked the road outside the logistic park by installing a tractor trolley from January 2021. Due to this the whole work came to a standstill. The company requested the Punjab government several times to lift the picket. When they got no relief, the company also approached the High Court. The court had also ordered the state government to find a solution to the matter.

DC Ludhiana Varinder Sharma and Police Commissioner Rakesh Agrawal went several times to meet the farmers sitting on dharna. On 20 July 2021, the court had asked the counsel for the state government to explain the problem. The next hearing is due for July 31. Seeing no solution, finally the company has decided to close the park.
