After a week of the heart-wrenching incident in Lakhimpur, the main accused Ashish Mishra appeared before the police. He is the son of the Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra. The police had questioned him, after his appearance. Earlier, the Lakhimpur incident had left nine people Killed. Out of which, four were farmers.
In the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, a journalist also lost his life. This all happened when Ashish Mishra rammed his car on the farmers who were protesting peacefully. Not only this, Ashish and his friends also opened fire. After this tragic incident, politics became so heated that it became difficult for the minister to escape from the heat of the incident despite lakhs of efforts. Eventually, Ashish Mishra had to appear before the police.
However, it was the pressure from opposition parties and harsh remarks from the Supreme Court that led to his appearance! Now, the people are waiting for the police to act next. However, the Supreme Court, while hearing this matter, has declared Yogi Adityanath’s government incompetent. That is, in the eyes of the Supreme Court, there was no responsibility from the Yogi government.
Harish Salve, a senior advocate appeared for the state government. However, he has also upheld the court’s observation instead of taking the government’s side. Even after this, if the Yogi government doesn’t act, then the government will lose its credibility. On the other hand, the opposition parties are also asking for the resignation of the Union minister Ajay Mishra. Ajay Mishra has already many criminal cases against him.
Moreover, there is an ongoing murder case against him in an Allahabad court for years. Despite this, he is the second powerful minister in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Not only this, Home Minister Amit Shah defended him by advising the police to cooperate in the investigation instead of demanding his resignation. Punjab is seeing a lot of anger because of the Lakhimpur Kheri incident. Further, most farmers killed in this incident are Punjabis. There were many opposition leaders also who had visited the deceased family.
Rahul Gandhi from Congress, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Harsimrat Kaur Badal from Akali Dal, and other leaders went to Lakhimpur to express condolences. These leaders visited the families of the victims and provided them financial assistance. Even the Aam Aadmi Party had sent a delegation to meet the victims. Meanwhile, the police had detained Priyanka Gandhi for two days in this connection. Navjot Sidhu and his associates had to sit on a hunger strike demanding the arrest of Ashish Mishra.
As of now, the main accused has surrendered before the police. So, it seems that the U.P government will now face less heat. Ashish Mishra is the scapegoat here. A few days ago, Ajay Mishra was seen in a viral video too. There, he threatened to fix the farmers. As of now, the U.P government hasn’t taken any harsh actions on Ajay Mishra. In this matter, the Supreme court was right to say the U.P government, irresponsible.
Even though many leaders had met the families of the victims but no one came from the government’s side. Actually, it seems that the government has acted out of compulsion. Further, the farmers have given an ultimatum to sack the minister also. Moreover, the farmers want the U.P government to ack the minister. Also, the farmers will stop trains across the country on October 18.
Farmers have now announced to surround the government with agricultural laws as well as the Union Minister. From the facts that have come out of this whole incident, it seems that the government can do anything to fulfill its insistence. When the demands and sentiments of the people become meaningless to the government, something is likely to happen that leaves a lot behind. This very thing becomes a new page and gets recorded in the history of the country.
