Desiengine Team(Melbourne): A recent disturbing video which emerged on all social media and mainstream print media platform and the way it has been projected has the potential to destroy the social fabric of our multicultural society. Is it a deliberate malicious attempt by the mainstream print media or just poor reporting without going through all the facts and figures or just a mischief by an individual to gain cheap publicity for political gains? It’s anybody’s guess!
We tried to decode the audio and try to present the audio as close to the reality as possible. Even though it can’t be denied that the main orator could have chosen better words while addressing his audience, below are the key observations which need to be kept in mind for a sane conclusion.
a) The orator was attacked both verbally and physically, in his own house, just before the conversation in the audio by a certain section of the society. It is paramount the audience keep in mind the mental state of the orator before judging him in any way or form.
b) The orator was concerned and was talking about parental visa inconsistencies by taking up an example or comparing the situation with refugees. It seems that the actual topic/ concern was hijacked and the whole conversation was diverted towards racism.
c) The questionable role of the print media in the whole episode casting serious doubts on their journalism and the way they reported the whole episode on face value with serious inconsistencies and without delving into extensive research.
d) Last but not the least, there seems to be clear attempt of dividing the society on the basis of nationality and religion by the individual or organisation which indulged in presenting misleading information through various tactics including but not limited to wrong translation.
Last thing we want in this beautiful country is polarised or divided society on the basis of nationality, religion or race. Media must lift its game and report responsible and individuals must be mindful of their actions and the repercussions their actions can have on our society. We all have important lessons to learn from this episode so that we can collaborate and work together for the overall benefit of this country, its democratic structure and its citizens.
