He is India’s third-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket, with 417 scalps in 103 matches and fifth-highest in One-Day Internationals, with 269 wickets in 236 games. The veteran off-spinner rose to prominence with his success against Australia in the memorable 2001 home Test series. They also won two global titles with the Indian team, the 2007 ICC WT20 and the 2011 ICC World Cup, and was a vital member of the team that rose to number one in the Test rankings in the first decade 2000s.
Though he continues to play in the IPL, having been signed by Kolkata Knight Riders in the most recent auction, he has also had a distinguished career as a commentator off late.
Bhajji, who is never happy unless he is doing something fresh and different, has previously dabbled in filmmaking. On Monday, he posted a teaser for his upcoming film ‘Friendship’ on Twitter. The teaser is a Hindi remake of the Tamil film in which the cricketer plays the lead role.
