The Farmers’ Tractor Rally was a massive success. However, there were clashes between the police and the farmers. The Police put barricades on the route of the rally. After that the farmers entered central Delhi. A group of farmers also entered the Lal Quila or the Red Fort.
After the rally, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha has issued a statement. The Morcha thanked the farmers for their unprecedented support in the tractor rally organized on the occasion of Republic Day. The statement also condemned the ruckus that some miscreants created in some areas in Delhi,
It said that despite all our efforts, some organizations and people violated the prescribed route and committed malicious acts. Anti-social elements infiltrated the rally. Otherwise, the movement was peaceful. We have always said that peace is our greatest strength and its violation will hurt the movement.
The statement further said that we thank the farmers for their unprecedented support in the tractor rally organized on the occasion of Republic Day. At the same time, we condemn and express regret over unforeseen and unacceptable incidents. Morcha said that they are separating themselves from these incidents. “We have nothing to do with these incidents”.
The farmers who have been agitating against the new agricultural law on the borders of Delhi took out a tractor rally in Delhi on the occasion of Republic Day. The tractor rally became uncontrollable in many places. The farmers broke barricades and entered Delhi to hoist a flag at the Red Fort. There were also clashes between farmers and policemen.
Many farmers reached the Red Fort amidst the ruckus on ITO. Hundreds of farmers riding on two dozen tractors reached the Red Fort complex, where they started a ruckus. After that, the police had to lathicharge to evacuate the Red Fort.
Many people were injured in the lathicharge. Some of the injured from the Red Fort were taken to the hospital with the help of ambulances. In Nangloi and other areas, there were reports of confrontation between the farmers and the police.
