Bombay High Court grants transit bail for three weeks to Nikita Jacob in toolkit case

Nikita Jacob, an accused by Delhi Police in the toolkit case has received relief from the Bombay High Court. High Court has stayed Nikita’s arrest for three days on Wednesday. HC has also granted her the time of 3 weeks to approach the concerned court in Delhi for relief.

“In case of arrest, she will be released on a personal bond of Rs 25,000 and one surety of like amount.” ~ ANI

Delhi police has also arrested a 22 years old climate activist Disha Ravi from her home in North Bengaluru on Saturday. 50 academicians, artists and activists have released a joint statement in solidarity with her. Opposition leaders and political parties are also openly criticizing her arrest.

The toolkit gained limelight after Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg tweeted it, in support of the ongoing farmer’s movement against the agricultural laws. 

Nikita Jacob deleted her Twitter account when there was a dispute. Some have claimed that she introduced herself in her profile as an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) associate. However, in her new profile, she has removed her associations with the Aam Aadmi Party. Twitter user Vijay Patel has claimed that Nikita prepared a document called Solidarity with Indian Farmers on January 30, 2021. Some also claimed that she has also maintained an account on Instagram called News Infuse.

Nikita has shared a link to a website on her Twitter profile. She has stated in her introduction that she is a lawyer who raises her voice on social justice and environmental protection issues. Nikita says that she wants to become a writer, singer and voice artist.  She also does photography and cooks.
