Bhavna Kant to Become First Female Fighter Pilot to Attend Republic Day Parade


Bhavna Kant will be the first female fighter pilot to participate in the Republic Day parade. She is the third woman to join the Indian Air Force fighter pilot team. President Ram Nath Kovind awarded the Nari Shakti Puraskar to Bhavna last year. This year she will be the part of the tableau to be carried out in the Republic Day parade. The theme of the tableau is Make in India.

Meanwhile, Bhavna is very happy to have this opportunity on the occasion on Republic Day. She says that she has seen the Republic Day parade on TV till now. “However, now I got a chance to participate in it for the first time”.

Bhavna loves flying other fighter aircraft along with Rafael and Sukhoi. On this Republic Day, the Indian Air Force will showcase LCA Tejas, Light Combat Helicopter, Rohini Radar, Akash Missile and Sukhoi 30 MKI.

Bhavna hails from Baur village of Ghanshyampur block of Darbhanga district of Bihar. Her father is an engineer working in Refinery Township. Fighter Pilot Bhavna also completed her studies from Barauni Refinery DAV Public School. After that she did engineering in medical electronics from BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore.
