According to the information, there were major irregularities at a polling station in Dima Hasao district of Assam. There are only 90 voters registered at this polling booth. However, a total of 171 votes were cast during the second phase of voting.
An official said that this polling station is in Haflong assembly constituency. The second phase of polling concluded on April 1. There was around 74 percent voting during this phase. After this incident came to light, the District Election Officer suspended five election officials of the polling station. They have also proposed a re-polling at this polling booth.
This polling station was in 107 (A) of Khotlir LP School.After getting information about the mess here, the Deputy Commissioner of Police of Dima Hasao cum District Election Officer issued the suspension order on April 2. But the matter came to light on Monday (April 5).
