In Melbourne’s west (Truganina) a man used his cheapest guitar to shred two thieves after they broke into his home in the middle of the night and held a knife to his partner’s throat and demands the keys to a Mercedes-Benz parked outside.
He went to his office to pick up the keys, but he couldn’t find them, prompting him to make another plan.He comes out with his guitar, makes them run out of the house and also broke their car window when they were running.
Senior Sergeant Samantha Ryan told AAP that it was “a pretty horrible situation” for the victims, but she admired Mike’s courage. “I admire his bravery and tenacity and quick thinking, innovative thinking, taking the guitar to defend himself and his house,“she said on Tuesday.
The two offenders who entered the house were masked and wearing hoodies, the senior sergeant said. It is believed that another man and a woman were in a getaway vehicle. Police are reviewing CCTV footage and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
